Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

Proof, Not Promise.

At Firth Steels, we believe transparency should be built in, not bolted on. That’s why we’ve committed to publishing a full, product-specific Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) across each of our building envelope systems.

Whether you’re aiming to cut embodied carbon, meet planning requirements or specify with certainty, our verified EPDs give you the data to do it – clearly, confidently and without compromise.

What is an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)?

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a third-party-verified document that outlines a product’s environmental impact throughout its lifecycle, from raw material extraction and manufacturing to installation and end-of-life.

Each EPD is based on a full Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and produced in accordance with recognised international standards, including:

  • EN 15804
  • ISO 14025
  • ISO 21930

Rather than assumptions or average values, an EPD provides measurable data on key performance indicators such as:

  • Embodied carbon (Global Warming Potential – GWP).
  • Resource and energy use.
  • Water consumption.
  • Waste generation.

Why does an EPD Matter?

Across the construction industry, EPDs are becoming essential. As regulations tighten and sustainability targets become more rigorous, verified environmental data allows you to:

  • Comply with industry frameworks such as RIBA 2030, LETI, PAS 2080 and BS EN 15978.
  • Contribute to planning approvals where embodied carbon reporting is required.
  • Support ESG reporting and net-zero strategies.
  • Improve tender performance in both the public and private sector procurement.
  • Gain credits within BREEAM, LEED and other certification schemes.
  • Make informed, comparable decisions during product specification.

An EPD is more than a document – it’s a mark of credibility, transparency and future-readiness.
